I’ve always read books that have a great story but with not so good ending, but this time I think I finally found my happy ending! In my Book Review: The Air He Breathe by Brittainy Cherry, you’ll be meeting two hearts that found each other amidst all the pain they’ve been through. Tristan and Liz both have dark pasts and heartbreaks to deal with, something you can never recover from.
“You know that place between nightmares and dreams? The place where tomorrows never come and yesterdays don’t hurt anymore? The place where your heart beats in sync with mine? The place where time doesn’t exist, ad it’s easy to breathe?
I want to live there with you.
– The Air He Breathes, Brittainy Cherry
Liz took off with her daughter and would desperately try to live anew. She refuses to end up like her mother who is constantly having a new man in her life almost every week, just to stop the pain and fill the emptiness with temporary joy. She was determined, even if she is broken, shattered into pieces, for her daughter… she would.
And then she met Tristan, many people warned her against him. He is the wrong kind of person to be with, hell, even just talk with, but Lis saw differently. Tristan is hiding something from those cruel, cold eyes and bad attitudes, something she can relate to. Liz understands because she is exactly like him.
“You’re beautiful. You’re a beautiful, broken kind of monster.” – Brittainy C. Cherry
Even with all the warnings, Liz and Tristan can’t deny their connection, they became friends and slowly progress into something more intimate, deeper, and then in turn into something real.
The Air He Breathes grabs hold of me… literally! I was lost in the writer’s storytelling. I really admire how Brittainy Cherry seems to pull each scene with a heart-warming choice of words. I can visualize each character as if they truly exist. It was a totally amazing experience. It is a whole new breath of fresh air for me.
As a mom, I can relate well with Liz. I admire her for choosing to have a new life and start again for the sake of her daughter. She is strong and a perfect mom even though she doesn’t know it. I find her human enough to see faults in what she does but she was actually doing an amazing job with her child.
“Even when your heart was hurting, there was something so hopeful about reading a book filled with love. The pages were somewhat of a reminder that maybe one day I would be okay again. Maybe one day I would be alright.”
– Brittainy C. Cherry
Not to mention her adorable kid! I really want to meet her in person and hug and kiss her!
Emma is the sweetest! I love each idea that Brittainy puts in this book. The feathers, the how she behaves with Tristan. She’s like a little grown-up Miss with an attitude and her love for zombies!
“Hey, Mister! I’m talking to you!” she said, tapping her feet. Stranger looked down at her. “You’re a big, fat, giant TICK!” – Brittainy C. Cherry
Tristan is your perfect dream husband and father, but then he can also become your perfect hottie jackass, running away and still grieving about his past. He gives off this arrogant bitchy attitude because he is afraid of being close to someone and was afraid that they might lose them again. His transformation to being his old self again begins when both Liz and Emma broke through the wall he built.
“I love her, Lizzie. I adore her, and there is nothing about her that is baggage. Emma is a luxury. I’ll take care of her for the rest of my life because it would be an honor. Because I love you. I love your heart, I love your soul, I love you, Elizabeth, and I’m never going to stop loving you or that beautiful girl of yours.” – Brittainy C. Cherry
OMGEEE!! Don’t you want someone like that in your life? I surely do! Not to mention the supporting characters. I especially like Liz’s best friend. She is super hilarious! I can’t imagine how Liz can live without her. I love how they bond and I love when there’s no filter around them. It is something real and solid!
The Air He Breathes by Brittainy Cherry is such a heartwarming, roller coaster ride and a mixture of heartfelt laughter and soul crushing tear jerker! Brittainy is one hell of a storyteller! I would definitely look out for her books after reading this one.
